CRD Parks Acquisition Proposals

San Juan Ridge and Kludahk Trail (PDF PDF )

The San Juan Ridge represents the highest point in the region, and contains a handful of sub-alpine lakes and a network of minor rivers. The coastal western hemlock forest that blankets this area includes pockets of old-growth, though much of it has been logged over the past century.

The Kludahk Trail winds its way along the ridge and is the most established of the hiking trails in the area. Recreational opportunities in the area include back-country hiking, camping, and fishing.

Coastal Lands between French Beach and Jordan River (PDF PDF )

The shoreline land that connects French Beach to Jordan River is a wild patch of open coast where beach quickly gives way to dense forest. This land, which buffers the highway from the ocean, represents an important connector piece between the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail and the Galloping Goose Regional Trail.
